Aosta, the Italian city with the colors of a millenary history (Italy)

Aosta, in the heart of the Aosta Valley, seduces with its alpine character and millenary historical heritage.

Founded by the Romans under the name of Augusta Praetoria, the city preserves remarkable testimonies of its past: the Arch of Augustus, the Roman theater, the ramparts and the ancient access gates recall the strategic importance of this city once located on the route to the Alps. Between Roman ruins, lively old town and warm Italian atmosphere, Aosta is easily discovered on foot, through its alleys, elegant squares, and welcoming terraces.

The journey to Aosta is an integral part of the experience. From Chamonix, the passage through the Mont Blanc tunnel marks the transition between France and Italy and opens the way to the Aosta Valley. On the other side, access to the valley is through a highway carved into the heart of the mountains, alternating tunnels, viaducts, and suspension bridges, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Alpine peaks. An impressive crossing, both modern and deeply rooted in the landscape.

Surrounded by iconic peaks, Aosta offers a unique cultural immersion, combining ancient heritage, local craftsmanship, and Valdostan gastronomy. During a day trip, the city can be freely enjoyed, with several hours to stroll, visit historical monuments, have lunch on a terrace, and enjoy the Alpine landscapes. According to your desires, it is also possible to discover some surrounding hamlets, charming perched villages where exceptional Romanesque and Baroque churches still stand, often classified, bearing witness to the spiritual and artistic history of the region.

An escapade combining culture, mountains, and the Italian art of living, for a balanced, comfortable, and serene day, close to the great Alpine landscapes.
